DESTINATIONS IN ALAJUELA

We can personally drive you to the volcanoes Poas and Irazu. You can go horseback riding, go fishing or play Golf or tennis, all in a range of about 10km. No matter how you would like to spend your day, we would like to help you with the planning, and can even serve as personal Tour guides.

A day at the beach ? No problem! If you wish, we can even go there all together! You can spend a relaxing day there sunbathing, swimming and grilling. And then you can decide if you want to drive right back (about 1 1/2 hours) or if you´d like to stay at one of the numerous hotels at the beach.

You can visit Costa Rica´s capital, San Jose on your own – for example visiting the various museums, take a stroll through the many nice parks, or go shopping. San Jose´s cultural scene offers a plethora of nice experiences. Simply ask us, and we´ll gladly recommend you what you could do.

If you are into “Wellness”, we recommend a visit to the hotel “Fortuna” with their thermal springs.

The Snakefarm in Grecia is definitly worth a visit!

Alajuela City also has much to offer! The world famous coffee lets you experience the tico “Pura Vida“. You will be delighted by the city´s atmosphere – and  alot of small shops offer a great value for your money, and are thus ideal for a little shopping tour.

A nice tour to Tortugero will introduce you to this country´s unique and splendid vegetation, and – maybe even more importantly – the incredible richness of the local fauna, like for example turtles, crocodiles, monkeys and sloths. The experience to get to know such an interesting scenery is very highly recommended – for young and old!

The Braulio Carillo National Park with the Vulcano Barva. The volcano has been dormant for millenia, and has thus allowed its unique flora and fauna to develop undisturbed. The park also encompasses various acres of rainforest. If you´re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the colorful and amazing Quetzal bird.

Puntarenas is one of Costa Rica´s main port cities, which you can reach in aprox. 2 hours. There, you can catch a ferry to the Nicoya Peninsula with its world-famous beaches. Jaco Beach , a name which makes surfers all around the world hear up, is also nearby Puntarenas – a beautiful beach and waves which have been the venue for various world championships are a great place to relax or hit the waves.

In Quepos a great night life, also accompanied by a great beach, awaits you!

Heading farther south, there´s the town of Golfito , often frequented because of its extensive toll-free(!) shopping opportunities. From there, you can explore the exotic and adventourous Osa Peninsula. Even farther soutwards, the country of Panama is also open for curious travellers.

On the other side of the country, the caribbean coast invites you to experience authentic Rastafari culture on white beaches, while listening to reggae sounds. The surfing in Puerto Viejo is also famous.

We can gladly help you plan a personalized tour through the whole country according to your tastes.

Arrival and departure

You can also use our little hotel as a starting and ending point for your travels – you could book the first and last couple of nights at our place, and travel around the country independently.
